Several GateHouse papers across the country are celebrating breast cancer awareness month in print and online with our Paint the Town Pink program. Some highlights, and what's coming up:

1

Videos get the community psyched

Pink started as a successful program in New England three years ago, and it's still going strong there. Check out these videos from earlier this month at Wicked Local.

2

In the pink

Some papers also took the opportunity to purchase pink newsprint for some of their October editions, including the Taunton (Mass.) Daily Gazette, which is also asking for readers' breast cancer survival stories.

3

Sharing local stories

Some sites have announced their Pink program in news stories, including this one from the Lincoln (Ill.) Courier that profiles a local oncologist.

4

What's next

GateHouse News Service is creating a Paint the Town Pink website for local and national breast cancer awareness month coverage, including areas for photos, video, user-generated content and social media.

Your site will be able to count all views from the webpage, newspaper.com/pink, and be able to post your stories, photo galleries and videos to it in Zope. Instructions will come out next week, and the site will go live on Oct. 3.

Also, GateHouse News & Interactive will turn all sites' wrappers pink on Oct. 2, for the rest of October.
