Facebook in print. That's how the publisher of the Constitution Tribune (a GateHouse Media newspaper in Missouri) described a monthly product his newspaper launched this summer.

Mychillimo.com launched this summer and aimed to replace the newspaper's shopper publication. The newspaper's publisher, Rod Dixon, said he wanted to create a product that promoted all that was good about their community, Chillicothe, Mo. (Hence the name, mychillimo.com).

The print product focuses heavily on reader submitted photos. In fact, much of the full color publication is filled with photos submitted by readers and shot by local staff. The photos are moments in life images, capturing how folks spend their days in this northern Missouri community, from community events to afternoons at local parks.

Other features include a day in the life focus, a Q&A with a volunteer, athlete and looking back history piece. Nearly every page has a promotion asking readers to submit their photos and stories.

The newspaper also launched their first blog platform as part of the launch of the new prodcut, mychillmo.com. Dixon hoped that the blog would serve as an avenue for readers to submit their news. Users create an account on the blog and then can post their news (basically anything that matters to them) to the blog.

In the print product, the newspaper repurposes the best from the blog.

The piece launched in August and Dixon said the product was met with positive reaction from readers and advertisers and that he held a luncheon in early August to create buzz for the product.
