Alice Coyle, managing editor for the Raynham office in Massachuetts, coordinated a reader callout on local Haiti relief efforts for her 14 websites and 11 newspapers:
"Here's a reader call-out that could lead to some local news tips on this big story. We have some strong local leads already in communities like Randolph with a large Haitian population, but hopefully this will lead to others."
The callout was published Jan. 14. In the days since, Alice has recieved several stories of local relief efforts throughout her communities, some of which are turning into full-blown stories. They've created a photo gallery from an interfaith candlelight vigil that came to their attention through the reader callout, a local congressmen wrote in to report on what his office is doing, an individual stories of donations are still coming in.
