A month before Father's Day, editor Allison Hudson visited local elementary schools and gave students a form to fill out. When she received the forms back, they were filled with pictures the kids drew of their fathers, along with their answers to the question, "My father is special because ..." The forms were printed in the paper for Father’s Day.
According to Allison: “The following day, parents and grandparents came in and thanked me because they said it was the best gift they could have ever received. One grandmother even came in to get a copy and frame it for her grandson to give to his father on Father’s Day. It was so sweet and received much positive feedback from the community.”
